I've been running crazy for a while with team prep, team, team clean up, and more team prep. But tonight I did grab a moment with two of our youngest boys to watch the full moon rise. They just happened to be with me when I saw the glow on the horizon, so we found a good place to watch (teetering on top of the fountain) and held hands as it came up. One of the boys did a great job finding shapes in the clouds that lit up in the moonlight. At one point the moon passed behind a wisp of cloud and we were all three firmly convinced that it was a man with a sombrero pulled low, eyes, and a long mustache. Conversation quickly turned to the clouds (what are they made of, what would happen if you were on top of one) and stars (what happens when they fall, where are they really). It was an amazing 10 minutes or so in many ways. Just as the moon passed behind the clouds, the dinner bell rang and the boys were off running.
I took my time heading to the caf and the moon was already coming back out when I reached Brian and shared some of the boys' conversation with him. We watched it for a while longer (before it went behind giant clouds) and he informed me that we were seeing a Super Moon. I've confirmed that with a random online newspaper article. The moon has not been so close to the Earth since January 19, 1992. I had no idea it was coming, but I guess God knows how much I love watching the full moon rise and that I haven't been able to do so in nearly forever...He not only got my attention and made it a really big one, but gave me the best company!!
