Blockades

Traffic hasn’t moved since last Wednesday.  No staff can get here.  No teachers can get to the school.

I guess the Bolivians are used to it…but I’m going crazy!!  It’s like being snowed in, but without any fun snow to play in.

I am SO thankful for Tia Jenny and Pastor Angel who have snuck out here somehow and are now not only working all day but staying here overnight as well.  God bless their families for lending them to our family during this time!

Shout of Love

They offered to shout my love from the mountaintop...and I let them!  They even had a "real" mountain-man do the shouting on Valentine's Day!

(Lindsey Fuselier is responsible for my encounter with this opportunity.  Thanks!!)

Rainy Days

It has been raining A LOT here.  So much so that I am completely sympathizing with so many who are snowed in with cabin fever back in the States!  The boys are dealing with it pretty well, with only occasional furious wrestling matches breaking out.  They've found some new things to do before school in the morning...

Playing cards

Homework

Turning homework into paper airplanes

Reading books from our library.

Bolivian Toys

We don't need anything complicated to roll on the ground laughing in Bolivia...

Just a strip of plastic loaded up with rocks.

Loading the rocks up must be done precisely and often with the help of many friends.

Only two can participate in the lifting of the rocks.

And the thrilling launch after a count to 3!

Over and over and over!

It's pretty intense...the tongue out is important when working hard.

Distance judge is in the back :)

That's all it takes to amuse my little ones for about an hour!

Lunch Prep

Shelling peas before tutoring (empty pods on the floor)

If you know me, you know I love peas...but boy are they a lot more work than the frozen peas back home!

I'm pretty sure these plants were just growing wild along the back wall.  After picking off the leaves, they made a delicious salad!

Back to School 2011

Picking up supplies the day before.

This morning...

Lined up to load up our bus!

The boys are split into 2 groups for school, morning or afternoon...so we are never completely without them :)

They were ready and impatiently waiting a full half hour early!

His first day of school EVER!!
He jumped kindergarten and is going straight into first grade.  He was nervous, but SUPER excited!

Some of the afternoon boys, who were equally excited about heading back.
